Ceremonies in Gloucestershire

The government announcement (23 June 2020) stated that marriage and civil partnership ceremonies can resume from Saturday 4 July 2020. The government has indicated that up to 30 people may be permitted in the ceremony room subject to:

The venue and the room being available for use and suitably risk assessed as COVID secure and the number of people in the room is compliant with social distancing rules.

We will be contacting couples in priority order if these restrictions affect your planned ceremony date.

Please note due to the high number of couples who have had their ceremony postponed this year and need to reschedule, we are unable to offer new ceremony bookings until January 2021.

Marriages

It is your day so we want you to have an occasion to remember – either a simple registration with just two witnesses or a more traditional ceremony with best man/woman, bridesmaids, guests, music, readings, video and photographs.

Gloucestershire Registration Service offers two options for your special day:

Please note, due to Covid-19 our phone line is currently set for death appointments only.  Therefore, if you wish to make a booking, please email ceremonies@gloucestershire.gov.uk with the details and a telephone number, and we will contact you to book.

 

Registration

A registration will comprise only of the couple, two witnesses and the registration officers conducting the legalities.  (No other guests, dependents or minors however young are able to attend this registration). The registration will take place in a designated room at a registration office. Although you would not make ring vows or have music or readings, it is still an occasion where you can make your legal commitment to each other. Enhanced Ceremony

An enhanced ceremony allows you to make choices about the words you wish to say to each other.  The ceremony can include up to two non-religious readings and non-religious music.

Any proposed additions to a standard enhanced ceremony must be requested within two months of the ceremony date and if approved, are chargeable at the time of the request.

You may invite as many guests as the room is licensed to hold but this number must include the couple and the two registration officers. Booking your ceremony

You will need to book Gloucestershire Registration Service to conduct your ceremony, whether this is a registration office or an approved venue. The majority of ceremonies tend to be in the Spring and Summer and popular dates and times are booked up very quickly.

Once you have made your booking our ceremonies team will confirm the details in writing. At the time of making your booking a booking administration fee (non refundable) will be required.
