Marriage and Civil Partnership Ceremonies in Gloucestershire

From Monday 28th September the number of people permitted to attend a marriage or civil partnership ceremony has been reduced to 15. This maximum number must include the couple, witnesses and guests.  This number no longer includes anyone working and therefore no longer includes our Registration Staff. The venue and the room must be suitably risk assessed as COVID secure and the number of people in the room must comply with social distancing rules.

Please click here for full details how a ceremony will look in Gloucestershire with the current government restrictions.

We will be contacting couples in priority order if these restrictions affect your planned ceremony date.

We are currently unable to take any new bookings for Ceremonies to take place during the remainder of 2020. This is due to the need to accommodate bookings that have been unable to go ahead due to the Government restrictions

If you need to contact us about a ceremony, please email ceremonies@gloucestershire.gov.uk

Face coverings guidance (Effective from 31st August 2020)

Anybody attending a registration office for an appointment must wear a face covering unless they are exempt from doing so under Government guidelines.

NHS Test & Trace

NHS Test and Trace is a key part of the country’s ongoing COVID-19 response. As of the 24th September all visitors to Gloucestershire County Council premises will be asked to voluntarily supply their details to NHS Test and Trace by the way of scanning a QR code on site. You will need to use the NHS Covid 19 App to allow you to do this. If you use an iphone, please download the App via the App store, if you use an Android phone please use Google play. It would be advisable to download prior to your visit to us.

If you are unable to download the App, your details will be requested on the day of the appointment by our staff.

Marriages

It is your day so we want you to have an occasion to remember – either a simple registration with just two witnesses or a more traditional ceremony with best man/woman, bridesmaids, guests, music, readings, video and photographs.

Gloucestershire Registration Service offers two options for your special day:

Please note, due to Covid-19 our phone line is currently set for death appointments only.  Therefore, if you wish to make a booking, please email ceremonies@gloucestershire.gov.uk with the details and a telephone number, and we will contact you to book.

Registration

A registration will comprise only of the couple, two witnesses and the registration officers conducting the legalities.  (No other guests, dependents or minors however young are able to attend this registration). The registration will take place in a designated room at a registration office. Although you would not make ring vows or have music or readings, it is still an occasion where you can make your legal commitment to each other. For details of our options, availability and booking a notice appointment please contact our ceremonies team at ceremonies@gloucestershire.gov.uk or 01452 425060 (option 3).

Enhanced Ceremony

An enhanced ceremony allows you to make choices about the words you wish to say to each other.  The ceremony can include up to two non-religious readings and non-religious music.

Any proposed additions to a standard enhanced ceremony must be requested within two months of the ceremony date and if approved, are chargeable at the time of the request.

You may invite as many guests as the room is licensed to hold but this number must include the couple and the two registration officers. For further information about the format of the ceremonies we offer please contact our ceremonies team at ceremonies@gloucestershire.gov.uk or 01452 425060 (option 3).
