Blackfriars Priory

Hidden in the heart of the historic City of Gloucester, Blackfriars Priory is a multi-award-winning historic landmark that will wow your guests and create memories that last a lifetime. Featuring unrivalled history throughout the venue, such as a 16th century bread oven and the Medieval Scriptorium, which is believed to be the oldest standing purpose-built library in Northern Europe, the Priory is a site of international significance. Run by a small, passionate team that has won international awards for outstanding customer service, you will be well looked after with your own in-house coordinator. They will look after you during the planning stages of your wedding and be there on the special day to ensure it runs like clockwork. The venue offers a range of rooms and options to suit every wedding and budget, catering from weddings of 4 – 200 people.

The North Range

The iconic North Range is perfect for wow-factor celebrations with a dramatic backdrop. Featuring a 65ft scissor-braced ceiling, which displays original 13th century oak beams that were gifted to the site by King Henry III. He room can hold up to 200 people for your ceremony or 150 – 180 seated for a meal, dependent on your layout.

The Upper East Range

Ideal for intimate ceremonies, the Upper East Range is a medium sized room that is bursting with charm. Available for ceremonies of up to 60 guests, it features Medieval windows, an oak beam scissor-braced ceiling and wooden flooring. Decorated with fairy lights, the room is abundantly romantic and a beautiful backdrop for your ceremony.

The Old Kitchen

Our elopement wedding space is the Old Kitchen in the lower East Range, named after its use during the 16th century, when the Priory became a private dwelling for Sir Thomas Bell. Licenced for up to 14 people, the room features a rare herringbone fireplace and the remains of a 16th century bread oven.
